The Ultimate Guide to Drain Unlocking in Liverpool
As all property owners know, there is never a good time for your drains to become blocked. A blocked drain can occur at any time, and more often than not it will take time for a fully formed clog to appear in your pipe system. It is important that you address clogs and blocked drains as quickly as possible, as leaving them to their own devices can result in expensive and stressful repairs. We have put together a little guide on how you can tackle blocked drains at home, and when you should think about booking professional drain unblocking services to keep your drains flowing freely.
Home Remedies
A blocked drain can be a nightmare for anyone, but we have a few tips and tricks that you can use to try and tackle the problem yourself without having to call in the professionals. These are all completely safe and easy to do, and you won’t have to worry about getting your hands dirty!
Boiling Water
The easiest method to try in the first instance is the boiling water method. All you need to do is boil a kettle full of water and pour the whole thing down the drain. Wait for about an hour, and then repeat the process to flush everything out. The boiling water should help to break down any small clogs that have formed and wash them away before they get any larger. You can always add this into your monthly cleaning routine to ensure that no clogs even get a chance to form!
Baking Soda and Vinegar
If you find that you need a little bit of something extra to remove your clog, then try the baking soda and vinegar combination. When you mix baking soda and vinegar, you will notice it will immediately start to fizz (make sure that you don’t mix this before you pour it down the drain!). This fizzing mixture should be able to dislodge any clogs that are more stubborn. All you need to do is pour the baking soda down the drain, and follow with the vinegar. You will hear the mixture start to fizz straight away, and you need to leave this for a minimum of an hour, but ideally as long as possible or overnight. Then, you need to boil a kettle full of water and pour this down to wash away anything that has been dislodged. You should find that the combination of vinegar, baking soda, and hot water has your pipes flowing freely once more.
